A remarkable Wish Recipient, Dorothy Flood, was featured on NPR this morning. Dorothy wanted to eat in a dining car of a train since she was 6 years old, but couldn’t because of segregation. Now almost 70 years later, we made her Wish come true with lunch in the dining car of the Royal Gorge Railroad. Wow! I love this woman, Dorothy Flood! I am proud of her and feel so inspired by this story of real human authenticity—where we learn that all of us are humans with feelings of hope and love for family and life. I am so happy for her and thank you, the Foundation, for giving her this dream come true. Not having walked in her shoes, I cannot imagine what this one act meant to her—but I know it will have life-lasting effects on her and everyone she comes in contact with. Thank you for sharing this story and mostly for creating such a wonderful opportunity for our most treasured resource–our elders! Thank you.

Please let me know how I can become more active with your foundation. I am a 7th Grade LA teacher who will be teaching one period this year as an Enrichment time. I would like to at least use one qtr. of time this year in that hour to build on your Foundation’s mission. Any suggestions?! God bless and keep you.
